A Day in the Life
When the students first arrive in the morning, phones are handed in to create a peaceful, engaging environment. Students get the opportunity to settle in for the day, reconnecting with friends and teachers, then head out on the porch for morning check in. This consists of writing daily planners, discussing the week as a group, developing study skills, and individual check-ins with Ms. Jamie. The next 1.5 hours are spent doing independent study curated through outsourced programs. A mid-morning break provides students with a healthy snack and the chance to mingle with friends, play ping pong, and roam the jungle campus before returning for the second independent study. A homemade lunch that changes daily is followed by more time in the great outdoors. After lunch, all grades participate in a group class from the list on the right, engaging with their community, learning valuable life skills, and expressing their creativity through the arts.

Dear Future Parents,
Welcome to Nosara Arts and Leadership Academy (NALA)! I’m Ms. Carrie, and I’m thrilled to share with you our vibrant community where creativity thrives and future leaders are born right here in the stunning jungle of Costa Rica!
At our academy, we dive deep into the world of theater and film, empowering our students to express themselves boldly. Through engaging performances and creative projects, they develop essential skills like confidence, teamwork, and communication—becoming amazing public speakers and captivating storytellers who can engage any audience.
At the heart of our mission is social-emotional learning, encouraging students to lead with kindness, empathy, and resilience. By nurturing strong friendships and promoting collaboration, our students tackle challenges together, growing personally and as leaders in our community.
We emphasize the power of service through opportunities like building houses for those in need, supporting food banks, and assisting local church projects.
Students can also curate their own personal programs with a career counselor, dedicating up to three hours a day to explore their academic passions and interests.
Our wonderful, relaxed campus feels like a second home to our students, complete with comfy couches and vibrant artwork adorning the walls. This nurturing environment enhances their creativity and well-being, allowing them to thrive as they embark on their artistic journeys.
Surrounded by the beauty of Nosara, our students emerge as compassionate leaders, eager to make a positive impact on the world. I can’t wait for you to join us on this incredible journey!
Kindest regards,
Ms. Carrie
